Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect

Every person, young and old, deserves to live without fear of harm.

Ben and Cyndi Crocker are both active in the fight against elder abuse. They both sit on the Barren River Local Coordinating Counsel on Elder Abuse and have sponsored several initiatives to educate the public about the signs of abuse and the duty to report it. (Click here for more information about Ben and Cyndi’s work in the community). The local counsel includes law enforcement officials, social workers, the nursing home ombudsman, and concerned citizens. There are many dedicated people throughout Kentucky working to protect elders from abuse.

Unfortunately, abuse and neglect still occur far too often. In nursing homes understaffing and lack of training are often the causes of poor patient care. At Crocker Law Offices we represent families who have had a loved one injured or killed as a result of abuse or neglect in nursing home.

It would be so much better if these cases did not exist. Please read below about the signs of abuse, neglect or exploitation. If you suspect that an elder you know is being mistreated, please report it to one of the agencies listed below.
